Tim and Lorna Jacobson
Member Care, Education, Informal Leadership Development
Canada
Throughout her years of ministry with SIM Canada, Lorna faithfully served as the TCK Care Coordinator, providing care, encouragement, and support to Third Culture Kids (TCKs) and their parents. She walked alongside families from the earliest stages of the application process, through preparation and adjustment, during their years of ministry both overseas and in Canada, and through significant life transitions including home assignment, post-secondary studies, and beyond.
Her ministry touched the lives of more than 50 families and well over 100 TCKs. Through her dedication, compassion, and advocacy, Lorna helped strengthen SIM Canada's commitment to the education, care, and flourishing of missionary children. Her investment in countless young people and families has left a lasting impact that will continue to be felt for years to come.
For many years, Tim served as the Executive Director of MentorLink Canada, embracing its vision: For every believing community, Christlike leaders; for every leader, Christlike mentors. Throughout this season of ministry, Tim was passionate about investing in others so they could become all that God desired them to be and accomplish all that God called them to do.
As a SIM Canada missionary, supported through SIM, he devoted much of his energy to developing mentoring movements in Ethiopia and other countries across Africa. Through training, resourcing, and encouraging leaders, Tim championed intentional, accountable relationships where Christlike character could be cultivated and faithful living strengthened. His prayer was that the growth of God's Kingdom would be accelerated through multiplying mentors and leaders, and his faithful service has helped shape and equip many who now carry that vision forward.
"And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others."
2 Timothy 2:2 (NIV)
Both Lorna and Tim leave behind a legacy of investing in people, nurturing the next generation, and strengthening God's work around the world. Their faithful service has enriched the SIM Canada family and advanced the Kingdom in ways that will continue far beyond their years of active ministry.
