Avy came to faith as a teenager during a youth retreat in West Java, Indonesia. After that, she got involved in youth ministry and kept studying the Bible. When she went to university in Jakarta, she led a Bible study group on campus. Later, she moved to Canada and stepped away from youth ministry; however, after thirty years, she felt called to return. Now, she is going to work with SIM Indonesia in Jakarta to reach out to both Christian and non-Christian children and youth (including underprivileged communities) through the Peace, Love, and Hope project. This program brings the gospel to life in a Muslim-majority country by offering lively youth ministries through community engagements, artist talks, hands-on batik workshops, and art exhibitions.
And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. (1 Corinthians 13:13 NIV)
Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. (Romans 12:10 NIV)
